US DOJ’s Kanter, FTC’s Khan urge faster, more proactive merger enforcement

US antitrust enforcement chiefs Jonathan Kanter and Lina Khan emphasized the need for increased merger enforcement that addresses potential anticompetitive effects before they occur.

DOJ Assistant Attorney General Kanter said the agency's antitrust division needs to take decisive action to stop mergers that “entrench market power” or tend to create monopoly.
