UK publishers 'need to be protected,' minister says as AI copyright standoff continues

UK publishers, musicians, and artists "need to be protected while we garner the significant benefits of artificial intelligence," a creative industries minister said today. He pushed back on reports that the UK government was close to backing an opt-out mechanism for the use of copyrighted materials in AI models.
