Telefónica avoids EU sanction over E-Plus merger commitments (*update)

Telefónica Deutschland won’t face a fine over charges that it broke promises it made to secure approval for its takeover of German rival E-Plus, the European Commission disclosed today.

The EU antitrust regulator updated its register of mergers to indicate that it had closed proceedings, without giving further details.
