Smurfit Kappa, WestRock notify merger to EU as simplified deal

Irish paper-packaging maker Smurfit Kappa and US rival WestRock have sought EU approval for their $11 billion merger, according to an update on the website of the bloc’s regulator. 
The European Commission has set a deadline of April 18. The deal was notified for a simplified review.
