Shanghai hotels the first in China to suspend use of facial recognition at check-in

Hotel operators in Shanghai will no longer be able to use facial recognition to check in travelers who have already presented valid IDs, to protect consumers' personal information and boost tourism.
The local public security bureau recently issued a notice banning mandatory facial recognition for guests when they check in
