Next steps on EU climate law unclear, as governments reach only partial deal

EU governments today approved a “partial” common position on a draft EU climate-neutrality law that would set a binding net-zero emissions target for 2050 covering all economic sectors.

Environment ministers meeting in Luxembourg (see here) agreed to a shared stance on all but one element of the proposed regulation, which forms the legal backbone
