Microsoft gives up OpenAI board seat, addressing concerns over control (update*)

Microsoft has renounced its “observer” role on the board of OpenAI, saying the position was no longer needed given the AI company’s progress.
The move could address concerns by some antitrust authorities, who suspect the billions of dollars Microsoft has invested in OpenAI may amount to a seizure of control.
