Meta faces 'unprecedented' revamp of housing ads after DOJ suit says AI-powered targeting violated civil rights

Housing ads published by Facebook violated a key US civil rights law because the company’s artificial intelligence algorithms constructed an audience based on protected categories such as race, religion, and sex, the government said today in requiring changes which Meta Platforms described as “unprecedented” to its targeted ads.
