Key Japanese antitrust official Kobayashi will replace Sugahisa as top competition bureaucrat

Wataru Kobayashi will become the next secretary general of Japan’s competition regulator, with the Japanese cabinet yesterday approving the appointment of the antitrust official to replace Shuichi Sugahisa, upon his retirement on July 1.
The 58-year-old Kobayashi is currently the director general of the Economic Affairs Bureau within the Japan
