EU would breach WTO rules by extending steel safeguards, trade nominee Dombrovskis says

The extension of the EU steel safeguards beyond their expiry date next year would be against global trading rules and could expose the bloc to hefty retaliation from trading partners, Valdis Dombrovskis told lawmakers at a hearing today as part of his bid to become the bloc’s next trade commissioner.
