EU-Vietnam timber pact’s licensing rules probed by US trade panel

The effectiveness of Vietnam’s timber licensing system — set up in October as part of an EU timber trade agreement — was questioned today by a US multiagency trade panel investigating charges of illegal timber use in the manufacture of furniture products from the Southeast Asian country.
