EU must complete banking union, so deposit guarantee needs finalizing, finance official says

The EU's banking union needs to be completed as soon as possible, which means finalizing a bloc-wide deposit guarantee scheme is top priority, a senior European Commission official has said, in the face of criticism of the scheme from the European Central Bank and the banking sector.
