EU banks could be penalized for crypto, climate, UK links under EU macro rules overhaul

EU banks face extra capital charges for climate change, cryptocurrency and potentially their ties to the UK, according to a review published by the European Commission today.

Macroprudential measures are intended to ensure bank regulation takes account of the sector’s impact on the wider economy, complementing capital requirements
