Digital euro cap aims to safeguard banking stability — at the cost of privacy

Holdings of a new digital euro could be limited to 3,000 euros (around $3,600) per person to ensure the asset is used for payments rather than stored as an investment, the European Central Bank’s Fabio Panetta has said — but enforcing that limit in turn raises troubling questions over privacy.
