Celanese amends DuPont deal in bid for EU approval

Chemical producer Celanese has offered to amend its $11 billion bid for rival DuPont’s engineering polymers business in an attempt to win EU clearance, according to an update on the European Commission’s website today.
The commission responded by extending its deadline to decide on the acquisition until Oct. 11.
