Carrefour, Grupo BIG face further scrutiny in Brazil after deal declared 'complex'

Brazilian food retailer Grupo Carrefour Brasil's planned 7.5 billion reais ($1.36 billion) acquisition of rival Grupo BIG Brasil, formerly Walmart Brazil, has been declared "complex" by the national competition authority and will require an in-depth analysis because of high concentrations in the segments of supermarket, hypermarket and wholesale store.
