Big data in EU payments markets warrants careful eye, Vestager says

Payment platforms that use their hold over data to lock out new market entrants have caught the eye of EU competition chief Margrethe Vestager.

She said that while "big data" had helped develop innovative payment services, there was a "balancing act" to ensure that it didn't lead to market restrictions.
