Comment: Visa-Plaid merger abandonment shows perils of using Big Tech defense

Visa and Plaid’s decision to abandon their proposed deal in the face of a challenge from the US Justice Department shows the difficulty in proving to regulators that a competitive threat from Big Tech companies warrants dealmaking by incumbent industry leaders. 

The companies terminated their $5.3 billion deal Tuesday (see here) after DOJ
