Comment: Nippon Steel-Kobe Steel merger of road-related business highlights review risks

Japan’s largest steel maker Nippon Steel today combined its road-related business with rival Kobe Steel’s subsidiary, eight months later than the original target. Nippon Steel Kobelco Metal Products was finally established after the Japanese competition regulator conducted a prolonged review and ordered divestures for the merged company.
