Comment: EU Commission signals ‘Article 22’ resolve with two new merger referrals

Months of court wrangling and debate over the legitimacy of a new drive by the European Commission to review below-threshold mergers have been swept aside with the EU regulator calling in two deals within the last five days, signaling that its new approach won’t be held up by litigation or policy questions.
