Vivendi’s Lagardère takeover has French, Belgian independent bookshops and authors on edge

French media giant Vivendi’s takeover of its rival Lagardère has incited French and Belgian booksellers, authors and independent publishers to alert the European Commission to their concerns, MLex has learned.

They warn that combining Lagardère’s Hachette and Vivendi’s Editis — the first and second-largest French publishing houses — could decimate their businesses.
