UK digital pound might need account cap to prevent bank runs, finance ministry official says

Should the Bank of England introduce a digital version of sterling, consumers may only be allowed to hold a limited amount to prevent potential financial stability risks of an exodus from commercial banks, Charles Roxburgh, one of the UK finance ministry's most senior officials said today.
