Tougher stance on EU carbon trading revamp voted through by environment committee lawmakers

Revisions to the EU’s carbon cap-and-trade program would include a one-off deletion of 205 million excess emissions permits and a phaseout of free permits by 2030 under a version approved today by a committee of EU lawmakers.

It would also see emissions by consumers exempted from an extension of the Emission Trading System
