Siemens Healthineers, Varian deal approved by Japanese regulator in January

Siemens Healthineers’ proposed acquisition of US cancer-treatment specialist Varian Medical systems was approved in Japan in January, according to the Japan regulator’s updated merger-clearance list, disclosed today.

The planned $16.4 billion deal was filed with the Japan Fair Trade Commission on Jan. 4 and cleared on Jan. 27, according to the JFTC’s latest
