Japan’s antitrust regulator is turning to its new tool of voluntary settlements as the go-to mechanism for enforcing competition rules, leaning heavily on the company initiative and dialogue it offers to remedy infractions and correct course, according to the findings from a report on the regulator's 2020 enforcement activities.
