India suggests WhatsApp attaches alphanumeric hash to messages to achieve traceability

The Indian government has suggested that WhatsApp could assign an alphanumeric hash to each message so as to be able to comply with a new requirement that each message should be traceable back to its originator, or the first person who created it.
