Google Play Store changes temporarily on hold until US Ninth Circuit ruling in Epic Games antitrust battle

By Alex Wilts ( October 18, 2024, 22:24 GMT | Insight) -- Google won’t need to immediately comply with a US injunction requiring an overhaul of its Play Store until after the US Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit has considered whether it's entitled to a stay pending appeal, a California federal judge ruled today, granting the tech giant’s request for a temporary stay of the order. But despite allowing the temporary stay, US District Judge James Donato of the Northern District of California, at a hearing today, rejected the request to stay the injunction pending appeal that Google had submitted to him, saying the company had not shown that it was likely to succeed on the merits.
