Garland nomination as US attorney general cleared by Senate with 70-29 procedural vote

Merrick Garland, who is US President Joe Biden's nominee to be attorney general at the US Department of Justice, was approved by the Senate by a 70-29 vote procedural vote to end debate.

Those voting in favor today during a live hearing included Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell and Democratic Senator Amy Klobuchar.
