Facial recognition should be banned in public spaces, German coalition says

Biometric identification systems such as facial recognition should be prohibited in public spaces under EU law, Germany’s new coalition government has said, adding to similar calls from the European Parliament to tighten the restrictions under the EU’s draft AI Act.
