EU-US tech and trade cooperation won't see digital laws converge, Vestager insists

EU-US cooperation via the bilateral Trade and Technology Council won’t lead to a convergence of legislation even where that might be feasible, EU digital commissioner Margrethe Vestager has said. Rather, the aim is to agree on “principles” that both sides will follow when legislating on artificial intelligence and other new technologies.
