EU carbon tariff exemptions for 'very limited' number of countries, Gentiloni says

A "very limited number” of countries may be granted an exemption from the EU’s proposed carbon border levy, tax commissioner Paolo Gentiloni has said.

The “whitelist” of countries exempt from the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism will be established by 2026, when the measure is due to take effect, Gentiloni told report
