Broadcom, US FTC reach settlement on charges chipmaker monopolized semiconductor component markets

Broadcom and the US Federal Trade Commission today reached a proposed settlement on allegations the chipmaker monopolized markets for semiconductor chip components.

Under the terms of the proposed consent order, Broadcom would be prohibited from requiring certain customers — TV and Internet providers who use Broadcom chips in their broadcast or Internet
