BMW, VW fined EUR875 million for emissions-technology talks; Daimler escapes fine

The European Commission has imposed total fines of 875 million euros ($1.03 billion) on BMW and Volkswagen Group over anticompetitive contacts when discussing the development of clean emissions technology for passenger cars.

Daimler avoided a fine of 727 million euros because it blew the whistle on the conduct.
