Apple 'perplexed' by call to change architecture as EU probes payments chip

Pressure on Apple to open up its chip technology for other payment services has "perplexed" the company, which says the move wouldn't serve the interests of competition or security.

The European Commission is investigating Apple Pay's "tap and go" technology on suspicion it might harm other providers of mobile payments.
