Intel-Tower Semiconductor antitrust review not likely to involve horizontal issues

Intel and Tower Semiconductor both make semiconductor chips, but the kind of chips they produce are distinct and create no obvious issue that would lead antitrust enforcers to challenge their recent deal based on horizontal overlaps.

Intel announced in February it was acquiring Tower for $5.4 billion to help meet growing semiconductor demand
