Merging companies have been sent another unambiguous signal from the UK competition regulator that breaking the terms of its freeze orders is increasingly likely to cost them dearly.

The Competition and Markets Authority has clearly indicated a zero-tolerance approach with a step up in the level of its fines for companies failing to comply
