Comment: Kirin's failed sale of Australian subsidiary highlights China risk for international mergers

Japan beverage maker Kirin agreed this week with potential buyer China Mengniu Dairy Company to terminate the sale of the Japanese company’s Australian subsidy, Lion Dairy and Drinks, after failing to win approval for the sale from Australia’s Foreign Investment Review Board, or FIRB (see here).
