Comment: In Vitol settlement, CFTC fully enters ranks of US anticorruption enforcers

Vitol's watershed bribery settlement with the US Commodity Futures Trading Commission represents an important step in that agency's turn toward aggressive enforcement.

The CFTC on Thursday said that Vitol, a Dutch energy trader, must pay $95.7 million to resolve a commission investigation into bribes it paid in several Latin American countries.
