Ro Khanna, a first-term Democratic congressman representing part of Silicon Valley, said he plans to issue an Internet bill of rights this week. Khanna made his remarks during a town hall gathering Monday night.

Khanna was tapped by San Francisco Representative Nancy Pelosi this past spring to draft an Internet bill of rights, which would outline privacy protections for Internet users.

Khanna made the statement at a town hall in Santa Clara, California, in response to a question from MLex about creating federal guidelines for online privacy.
