Apple boss Tim Cook was in Brussels last week for a meeting of global privacy regulators, the first time the CEO of a tech giant had attended. Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg and Google’s Sundar Pichai also delivered video messages. It’s clear that privacy has become a top-level issue for tech companies as regulators clamp down after a series of scandals, but how can they reconcile privacy with their data-hungry business models?
