US Securities and Exchange Commission member Elad Roisman has proven to be a frequent ally of fellow Republican Hester Peirce since taking office last month, joining with her on dissents in nine enforcement cases, an MLex review shows.

“He’s got a distinct industry tilt, very free-market oriented,” Duke law professor James Cox said.

The Republicans were outvoted in all nine cases by SEC Chairman Jay Clayton, a Trump appointee, and the two Democratic commissioners.
