Overseas derivative trades arranged in US raise questions for SEC, CFTC

Overseas traders’ derivatives transactions that are arranged, negotiated or executed in the US raise issues that the US Securities and Exchange Commission and US Commodity Futures Trading Commission are trying to address, SEC Chairman Jay Clayton said.

“At what point do we say [of] that transaction, the risk is offshore on the parties [and] is still something that we have an interest in regulating because it happens in the US,” Clayton told the House Financial Services Committee last week.
