Heath Tarbert, President Donald Trump’s nominee to head the US Commodity Futures Trading Commission, has extensive international experience that will enable him to hit the ground running on key policy issues, current Chairman J. Christopher Giancarlo said.
“He has really deep cross-border and international chops. He knows most of the major players on the global stage in financial markets regulation,” Giancarlo told reporters at an industry conference* yesterday.
“That’s important whether because of Brexit, whether because of EMIR 2.2, whether because of continuing growth in international financial markets, international matters are going to be either as great a portion of the chairman’s agenda as they have been to me, or even a greater portion,” he said.
