Many executives’ inadequate understanding of technology “can pose some interesting challenges and risks,” a federal official said, expanding on comments he has made about US cyberattack vulnerability.
“I do question how many leaders across business, government really understand the core technology powering the business,” Daniel Gorfine, the US Commodity Futures Trading Commission’s innovation chief, said at a conference* this week. “There’s such a need now for technological literacy that maybe wasn’t quite there in the same way, or of such magnitude, decades ago.”
Gorfine’s comments echo concerns he raised with lawmakers last year about leaders’ understanding of the potential for cyber breaches.
